In the High School Grand Prize of the 2016-2017 Final Challenge, the winners were team Second Chance Band. They were formerly known as Watt's Up Frisco. Their challenge in the Air and Climate Challenge was battling greenhouse gas emissions. They tackled the throwaway culture and produced playable music from upcycling discarded items. In doing this they hoped to set an example how to creatively reduce the stress on landfills, other waste management systems, and more. In the process of doing this challenge, they had a few major associations partnered to guide them along this challenge. They have met up with local legislatures and worked with Habitat for Humanity. There is a six-minute video produced about how-to upcycle, and have sent their instruments to Costa Rica and Mexico. For our regular first place prize high school teams, those winners were the EcoNarcs3.0, Aquasorbs, SUA Soil Savers, and The Milky Way. The first three teams competed in the Land and Air challenges while The Milky Way participated in the Air and Climate challenge.
